RE-DEDICATION PLEDGE

Let each individual Lion fully understand and recite the following Re-dedication Pledge with sincerity of purpose.

“Recognizing the debt I owe to the vision and leadership of the founders of Lionism, on the International and Club level, I hereby re-affirm my dedication to the high principles of our organization as reflected in our Code of Ethics and Lions Objects, and pledge myself to meet with renewed vigour the challenges to serve wherever the need may be found”

 
 
 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO
THE NATIONAL FLAG

I salute the National Flag of Sri lanka.
Which signifies the independence of my country
And stands for all its people,
(United as one Nation)

I pledge allegiance to Sir Lanka
And undertake to work,
(Towards its peace and prosperity)

THE RULES THAT GOVERN US

Each one of us as a Member of the Lions Club and the International Association of Lions clubs is governed by various rules and regulations in the form of several leal documents, representing different levels of Lonistic administration. It is imperative that every Lion should posses a basic knowledge of these rules and regulations.

1. Constatation & By-laws of The International Association of Lions clubs
Adopted by the first Convention of the Association in 1917 at Dallas, the International Constitution and By-laws which is superior to all the other rules within the Organization, has come down the years after going through many revisions and changes from time to time.

2. Policies of The International Board of Directors
Next in importance is the Policies adopted by the International Board from time to time. District Governors are kept posted all decisions of the International Board effecting Districts and Clubs.

3. Constitution & By-laws of The Multiple District
Every Multiple District has the said set of Constitution & By-laws shall not contravene any provisions of the International Constitution and By-laws and Policies of the International Board of Directors.

4. District Constatation & Bye-laws
District can adopt its own set of Constitution & By-laws in conformity with the International Constitution & By-laws and the International Board Policy. we in District 306 C have our own constitution, a copy of which is given to each club.

5. Lions Club standard Constitution & By-laws
Each club at the inception adopts the standard Constitution & By-laws. This is the most important document for any Lion member. The document at all times stand in conformity with the provisions of International Constitution & By-laws.

6. Robert Rules of Procedure
Except as otherwise provided in any of the above sets of rules, the provisions in the “Robert Rules of Order, Newly Revised” shall govern in the meetings and functioning of Lions Club, .District and Multiple District.

 
 
 

LIONS CODE OF ETHICS

TO SHOW my faith in the worthiness of my vocation by industrious application to the end that I may merit a reputation fro quality of service.

TO SEEK Success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as my just due, but to accept to profit or success at the price of my own self-respect lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part.

TO REMEMBER that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another’s, to be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself.

WHENEVER a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of my position or action towards my fellow men, to resolve such doubt against myself.

TO HOLD friendship as an end and not a means. To hold that true friendship exists not on account of the service performed by one to another but that true friendship demands nothing but accepts service in the spirit in which it is given.

ALWAYS to bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to my nation, my state, and my community and to given them my unswer, my loyalty in words, act and deed. to given them freely my time, labour and means. ?

TO AID fellow men by given my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak, and my substance to the needy.

TO BE CAREFUL with my criticism and liberal with my praise, to build up and not destroy.

 
 
 

LIONS CODE OF OBJECTS

TO CREATE and foster spirit of understanding among the people of the world.

TO PROMOTE the principle of good government and good citizenship.

TO TAKE an active interest in the civic, cultural social and moral welfare of the community.

TO UNITE the club in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding.

TO PROVIDE forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest: provided however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion, shall not be debated by club members.

TO ENCOURAGE service minded men to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry profession, public works and private endeavors.
